Vision & Mission

VISION

To materialize a dynamic centre for excellence in Biochemistry and to flourish in both National and International scene.

MISSION

  • To conduct high quality research in Biochemistry
  • To effectively transform our theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Biochemistry to the industry and to the common public.
  • To impact technical skills with integrity and ethical standards in students.
  • To inculcate entrepreneurship qualities as well as promoting sustainable development of the society.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: (PEOs)

The overall objectives of Bachelor’s degree programme in Biochemistry are to:

PEO1: Provide students with learning experiences that helps in deep interest in learning biochemistry

PEO2: Develop broad and balanced knowledge and understanding of biomolecules, key biochemical concepts, principles and theories related to biochemistry

PEO3: Equip students with appropriate tools of analysis and with theoretical, technical and analytical skills to tackle issues and problems in the field of biochemistry

PEO4: Develop in students the ability to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired to the solution of specific theoretical and applied problems in biochemistry

PEO5: Expose the students to a wide range of careers that combine biology, plants and medicine

PEO6: Provide students with the knowledge and skill base that would enable them to undertake further studies in biochemistry and related areas or in multidisciplinary areas that involve biochemistry and help develop a range of generic skills that are relevant to wage employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POS)

PO1: Disciplinary knowledge and understanding of biochemistry, structure and function of biological molecules

PO2: Explain biological mechanisms, such as the processes/pathways and metabolism

PO3: Explain the biochemical processes that underlie the health/disease conditions

PO4: Demonstrate an experiential learning and critical thinking of the structure and function of cells

PO5: Demonstrate an understanding of the principles, and have practical experience of, a wide range of biochemical techniques

PO6: Ability to grasp ideas and to turn ideas into action related to biochemical mechanisms and processes related to industries, industrial production, health, agriculture etc

PO7: Ability to use skills in specific areas related to biochemistry such as industrial production, technology development, clinical, health, agriculture and community development etc.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME (PSOs)

To enable the student to emerge as:

PSO1: An expert in Biochemistry theoretical/subject knowledge

PSO2: An expert in Biochemistry practical skills.

PSO3: Efficient researcher using biochemical practical skills.

PSO4: Acquiring own entrepreneur skills in biochemistry industry

PSO5: Well versed in the various biochemistry applied fields (medical, microbial, agricultural, environmental, plant and animal).
