Technology Business Incubator
St.Peter’s ENGINEERING COLLEGE TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS INCUBATOR In collaboration with the Department of Science and technology (DST), St.Peter’s University society has set up a Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at Avadi, to train and facilitate young graduates to become entrepreneurs in commercial ventures including refrigeration and cold chain. These are located at or near universities, R&D institutes, and Science and Technology parks. Our Vision of the Technology Business Incubator is to preserve Quality and improve Shelf-life and our Mission of Technology Business is to provide eco-friendly and cost-effective solutions, through innovation and incubation, for the longevity of agri-produce and industrial products with the aid and support of components and equipments involved in cold chain. We are also conducting many Programs like Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC), Faculty Development Programme (FDP) as Entrepreneurship Development for faculty members and Technology based Prgramme (TEDP) like Servicing of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning for diploma and engineering degree holders.
SPEC TBI has organized over 123+ entrepreneurship awareness programs, and 52+ training programs, currently providing incubation support to 30+ startups, 9+ incubated startups filed Intellectual property rights, and 15+ incubated startups raised seed grants. A fabrication laboratory is also established for the purpose of developing prototypes of the incubated startups. St Peters Engineering College Technology Business Incubator have been also recognized as a top 12 incubator in Tamilnadu by Startup TN, Government of Tamilnadu in 2023.

SPEC TBI is consists of Individual and Cubical workspaces for the incubatees for their operations. In total, Workspaces of SPEC TBI has 40+ seating capacity
Training Hall
A 300+ seating capacity fully Air conditioned training hall suited for large meetings and training for SPEC TBI as well as Incubated startups for conducting programs and training sessions
Advanced Manufacturing Lab
Advanced Manufacturing Space consists of DLP 3D Printers, FDM 3D Printers, Post Processing Workstation along with Designing Workstations.
Workbenches
Makerspace consists of Electronic Workstation, Mechanical Workstation, Carpentry Workstation, 3 tray Tools Trolly with tools, Pedestal Grinding Machine Portable Welding Kit, Laser Cutting and Engraving Unit, Hand and Power Tools.
Startup Library
A startup library consists of books, articles, websites, videos, and other resources that guide various aspects of starting and running a business, such as marketing, finance, legal, and operations.
Conference Room
A 35+ seater capacity with specialized space designed to host events, meetings, seminars, workshops, and conferences related to the agricultural and agribusiness sectors and cater to the unique needs of agricultural entrepreneurs, startups, researchers, and stakeholders
IOT Lab
SPEC TBI hosts a dedicated IoT Lab to nurture and support startups in the rapidly evolving Internet of Things sector. Leveraging state-of-the-art facilities and expertise, the IoT Lab provides startups with essential resources and mentorship to propel their innovations forward. Through collaborative efforts, SPEC TBI empowers startups within the IoT Lab to achieve their full potential and drive impactful change in the industry.
Centre for Excellence
The Centre for Excellence in Peptidomics and Molecular Simulation at St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research advances interdisciplinary research, fostering innovation at the forefront of biomolecular science and drug development.
Engine Research Lab
A 10+ startup can able to work in an engine research laboratory that consists of CRDI, Kirloskar engine, Nano car engine, AVL analyzer and smoke meter, Transesterification equipment, conventional GDI and endoscope technology
Chromatography Lab
The chromatography lab at SPEC TBI Incubation Centre offers startups access to state-of-the-art equipment for analytical and preparative separations. With expert guidance and resources, entrepreneurs can develop and optimize purification processes essential for product development in various industries, from pharmaceuticals to food and environmental sectors.
Algal Research
The Centre of Excellence for Algal Research at St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research is dedicated to advancing pioneering research in algal biotechnology, fostering sustainable solutions for various industries and environmental challenges.
CNC Milling Machine
The CNC milling machine at SPEC TBI Incubation Centre empowers startups with precision manufacturing capabilities, enabling rapid prototyping and production of complex components. Its user-friendly interface and advanced features streamline the manufacturing process, facilitating innovation and product development for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Incubation Process
At SPEC TBI, our incubation process is designed to nurture innovative ideas into sustainable businesses through structured support and guidance
1. Application & Screening
- Startups apply through our online/offline application form.
- Applications are reviewed by our expert panel based on innovation, feasibility, and market potential.
2. Selection & Onboarding
- Shortlisted startups are invited to present their ideas.
- Selected startups sign an incubation agreement and gain access to facilities and resources.
3. Incubation Support
During incubation, startups receive:
- Workspace and infrastructure
- Access to advanced laboratories (IoT, Protospace, Engine Research, etc.)
- Mentoring from domain experts and industry leaders
- IPR and regulatory support
- Networking opportunities with investors and stakeholders
4. Capacity Building
