Introduction
Sustainable Development Goal 4 is about Quality Education. UNESCO discusses the ‘key stake holders in education the youth and the students are key partners in achieving sustainable development goals for ensuring Quality Education for all.’ UNESCO also talks about Global Education. SPIHER Institution also reiterates Global Education. The catch- line ‘the world is at SPIHER -Ignite-Inspire-Innovate’ Global Education therefore heartily welcomes students from all over the world. SPIHER Institution serves the society by being a global Institution of higher learning in pursuit of academic excellence, innovation and nurturing entrepreneurship. SPIHER Institution has hence, tried to bring about quality education fulfilling the Goal 4 for Sustainable Development as per UNESCO.

SPIHER’s Commitment to SDG 1: No Poverty
St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research (SPIHER) is dedicated to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1): No Poverty, by implementing initiatives that promote sustainable development, improve livelihoods, and empower marginalized communities. Through academic programs, community outreach, and partnerships, SPIHER is working towards a world where poverty is eradicated and opportunities for prosperity are accessible to all.
1. Technical/Vocational and Higher Education
The NEP 2020 talks about that every child learns at least one vocation and is exposed to several more. This would lead to emphasizing the dignity of labour and importance of various vocations involving /Indian arts and artisanship. (NEP 2020).At SPIHER Institution tries to build the Vocational base of our learners. There is emphasis on Art, Agriculture, Media, Radio, Dance and Drama at SPIHER. As NEP 2020 points out we provide several choices to our learners to perform well in life. We strive to give a holistic education to our students by uniting their education to a lived reality. We need to make education more lively and practical to our learners. This will also reap rich dividends to the students at SPIHER. As they will also learn to be employable. Additionally, the computer labs also give our learners the opportunity to polish and maintain their computer literacy. This is an absolute necessity in our times. Our students need to be tech-savvy so that they can compete in the outside world and within the classroom more efficiently.
2. Equal Access for all
SPIHER also promotes active job placements for our students. So that our learners feel like productive members of the society. SPIHER Institution invites well-reputed schools to come and recruit our students as future educators regularly. This boosts the morale of our learners and makes our learners more practical in their approach to Education. The students are also given training how to face and interview by the placement cell. This equips our learners to be better equipped to face the challenges that the job market throws on them. We also have scholarships for the meritorious and the economically weaker sections.
3. Technology Based Pedagogy and Pedagogy
At SPIHER, School of Education we believe in technology based Pedagogy based on Digital Lesson Plans. At SPIHER Institution one also achieves milestones through self -directed learning. Seminars, conferences , paper presentations not only enhance our academic environment. At SPIHER we emphasize the need for democratic education as well. Here, the learners and teachers interact through online and offline interactions. Moreover, through Mentoring we bring the learners at par with their own goals. Mentoring is about quality interactions and based on values like trust, love and peace.
4.Critical Consciousness
Our learners are moved to question the status quo at SPIHER through Social Action like Value Added Courses, MooCs, Outreaches to the Community through Community Connect and Projects. We also build great minds through critical thinking and incubation cell, innovation cell, entrepreneurship and various activities. Research has suggested that critical consciousness — the ability to recognize and analyze systems of inequality and the commitment to take action against these systems — can be a gateway to academic motivation and achievement for marginalized students
5.Gender Sensitization
There are 20 per cent girl students in our Institution. Also, the Institution works towards Gender Sensitization. This also moves us to organize the Gender sensitization workshops to bring about Gender Parity among student and faculty members. Moreover, there are scholarships available for the single girl child. Further, there are Grievance Cells to look at the Gender issues that the Institution faces. Moreover, the school of Education prefers to recruit female faculty members as well. Gender is a societal term which SPIHER is quite sensitive about. It helps us understand the diversity that exists in society.


6. Research
SPIHER Institution values research in higher education. ‘The research development cell supports all kinds of scholarly activities like fundamental research, applied research and development contract research for government, non- governmental and international agencies. Research Forum appreciates and encourages the achievers every year. There are consequently many seminars to disseminate knowledge. The community connect and projects also build the process of research.
7. Institution Operations
Our Institution also gives financial aid to the needy students collaborating with various banks. We have a rich collection of books and resources that works as a pool of knowledge. Our library organizes many programmes and workshops on how to use the resources of our library. Additionally, we engage in Skill development programmes as well. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell additionally, in the Institution ensures quality in the overall performance of the Institution.



8. Entrepreneurship and Inclusion
Entrepreneurship is the ability (i.e., knowledge plus skills) of a person to translate ideas of commencing a business unit into reality by setting up a business on ground to serve the needs of society and the nation, in the hope of profits (nios.ac.in). The SPIHER Launchpad has a strong commitment towards entrepreneurship. This is achieved through short-term programmes, interviews, speaker sessions, competitions, industry interface, mentoring etc. Entrepreneurship is linked to industry and the curriculum is based on the needs of the Institution. There is also hands-on-training.
Inclusion is an important ideal of this Institution. It has been noted that students from marginalized nations are helped to study at SPIHER Institution. Moreover, the outstation and foreign students are accommodated in SPIHER Hostel.
9. Multidisciplinary Research
The centre of excellence for cyber security and cryptology aims at the promotion of interdisciplinary research and training. It calls for a unique blend of theory and industrial practice. There are multidisciplinary approaches followed with Maths, Statistics, Computer Science and Communication along with Artificial Intelligence. There are also multi-disciplinary approaches planned out to combine in SPIHER Institution.
10. Innovation
Conceptually, any innovation implies substantial improvement in the ways of doing things, producing goods or providing services. It may involve a new use of an existing resource or producing or delivering existing goods or services through new methods or new instruments/materials. It is a process driven approach to identify and develop solution for industry and society. The Institution aims to identify and support innovative ideas of students, alumni, faculty and innovators from the outside community at various levels. In order to achieve the cultural and attitudinal shift and to ensure that ‘Innovation and Startup’ culture is the primary fulcrum of our higher education system a policy framework and guidelines are the need of this hour. These guidelines will enable institutions to actively support their faculty, staff and students to participate in innovation and entrepreneurship (I&E) related activities, thus encouraging students and faculty to consider startups and entrepreneurship as a career option.
11. Technology Business Incubator Centre
Here there are sessions organised by industry experts. Regular Workshops and Events are also organised to enable to augment the entrepreneurial spirit among the candidates. Under the able guidance of faculty members candidates are taught the finer nuances of business development. Thus, there is a level of mentoring that additionally goes on. ‘In addition, the institutions also provide infrastructural support i.e. office space, meeting room to the candidates. At every step, the individuals are mentored and nurtured for their acquiescent business ideas.
Holistic Education
SPIHER Institution organizes enhancement programmes from time -to- time on life skills to cope with life and add quality to life. These include programs on healthy living, physical, psychological well-being, managing stress, nutrition and immunity etc. Also, polishing soft skills like leadership, decision-making and reasoning has been one of the endeavours of the radio channel at SPIHER Institution, where Education and Community meet. Further, health camps are organised on a regular basis to promote the idea of health and fitness. Additionally, Games and Sports, Yoga are important.




Credit Transfers
Government of India, Under National Education Policy-2020, intends to enable students across the nation with the “Academic Bank of Credits” (ABC) system for fulfilling their thirst for knowledge by providing academic flexibility to pick and modify their educational paths, link diverse disciplines, and; assist them in acquiring the proper foundations and building blocks for their ambitions. The “Academic Bank of Credits” (ABC) is an educational digital platform created to facilitate students’ seamless mobility between or within degree-granting Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through a formal system of credit recognition, credit accumulation, credit transfers, and credit redemption in order to promote distributed and flexible teaching and learning. The ABC platform will provide students (having a DigiLocker account) with the opportunity to register for a unique ABC ID, an interactive dashboard to see their credit accumulation, and options to begin a choice-based credit transfer mechanism. We have Implemented in our ERP system.
