Dr. R. Rani Hemamalini serves as the Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at
St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research (SPIHER), Chennai and is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. With over 30 years of academic and research experience, she has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and institutional development. She has guided several Ph.D. scholars and successfully obtained research funding from reputed agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for various innovative projects. Her research interests include Control Engineering, Embedded Systems, Process Control, Instrumentation, VLSI, Biomedical Signal Processing, and Air Quality Monitoring. She has published over 80 research papers in reputed international journals and conferences. Her notable projects include the development of a smart drone for air quality monitoring and research on electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies, with funding support from DST, AICTE, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). She has received several prestigious recognitions, including the BOYSCAST Fellowship from DST and the BOLT Award from Air India, along with international travel grants to present her research at global conferences. She is an active member of professional bodies such as the Institute of Engineers (India), ISA, ISTE, and IEEE, and has played a key role in organizing academic and professional development programs in the field of engineering.
