Dr. R. L. Mahesh Kumar serves as the Registrar of St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research (SPIHER), Chennai. With over 25 years of teaching and research experience, he has established expertise in Manufacturing Technology, with a focus on Metal Forming, Metal Casting, and Machining. He has published 21 research papers and has significantly contributed to the advancement of mechanical engineering education and research. With his extensive academic and administrative experience, he plays a vital role in fostering institutional excellence and innovation at SPIHER.
Dr. Mahesh Kumar is an active member of several professional bodies and serves as the Secretary of the Indian Institute of Production Engineers, Tamil Nadu Centre. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of the St. Peter’s Engineering College–Technology Business Incubator, promoting research and entrepreneurial initiatives among students and faculty.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Mahesh Kumar has been associated with Bharatanatyam for over 45 years and has been performing Nrithya Nivedana in two temples for more than two decades. His professional journey includes teaching and leadership roles at various institutions, including positions at colleges in Bangalore (1989–1992), Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur (1992–1995), and as Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at St. Peter’s Engineering College, Chennai (1995–2007). He later served as Principal of SMK Fomra Institute of Technology, Chennai (2007–2010), Visiting Faculty at the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University (2010), and Director (Academic) at St. Peter’s University from 2011 before taking charge as Registrar.
