Departmental Academic Integrity Panel (DAIP)

The Department Academic Integrity Panel (DAIP) is constituted in accordance with the UGC Regulations, 2018 on the Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions and the institution has constituted DAIPs among the departments with the prescribed composition as per UGC norms. It functions as the primary body at the departmental level to uphold ethical academic practices and address cases of plagiarism.

If any member of the academic community suspects, with adequate supporting evidence, that plagiarism has occurred in any document, the matter shall be reported to the DAIP, which shall investigate the complaint following the principles of natural justice and submit its recommendations to the Institutional Academic Integrity Panel (IAIP) of the Higher Educational Institution (HEI). The HEI authorities may also take suomotu cognizance of plagiarism or initiate proceedings based on the findings of an examiner, with all such cases being examined by the IAIP. The DAIP comprises the Head of the Department as Chairman, a senior academician from outside the department nominated by the Head of the HEI and a member well-versed in anti-plagiarism tools nominated by the Head of the Department, with the tenure of the latter two members being two years. The quorum for meetings shall be two out of three members, including the Chairman. The DAIP is responsible for assessing the level of plagiarism and recommending appropriate penalties as per UGC norms and shall submit its detailed report along with recommendations to the IAIP within 45 days from the date of receipt of the complaint or initiation of proceedings.

Composition of DAIP

Each department shall constitute a DAIP with the following members:

  • Chairman: Head of the Department
  • Member: Senior academician from outside the department (nominated by the Head of the HEI)
  • Member: Expert well-versed in anti-plagiarism tools (nominated by the Head of the Department)

The tenure of members (other than the Chairman) shall be two years. Quorum for Meetings

The quorum for DAIP meetings shall be two out of three members, including the Chairman.
