About the Department

The department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in the year 1993 with an initial intake of 60 students in the under graduate program. The vision of the department is to impart quality education to our students and keep them updated with the latest trends in technology by organizing add on courses that meets the present industry requirements. The department strives to achieve its vision by its highly qualified and dedicated team of faculty. To promote higher education, M.E (Computer Science and Engineering) and Ph.D., was started in the year 2008.

Computer Science and Engineering is leading the way in revolutionizing and making the current digital world a reality. The department is equipped with state-of-art computing facilities to impart practical exposure to the students in the recent advancements in the field of information technology. Final year students are offered placement and personality development training programmes to augment their technical and behavioral skills. The department has an excellent placement record and our major recruiters are Amazon, Wipro, Infosys, HCL, Maersk, Syntel, Odyssey, Sans Peril, CSS, Sutherland, QSpider, Maxit, etc., Besides looking forward for employment opportunities, our students also show keen interest in pursuing higher studies. Our alma mater are pursuing their higher studies in reputed institutions like Anna University, IMT Hyderabad in India and abroad.

With excellent enrollment record in the Ph.D program our department provides an ambient environment for aspiring researchers. Active research is carried out in the thrust areas such as mobile computing, wireless sensor networks, pervasive computing, data mining and warehousing, multimedia communication, software engineering and knowledge management, etc., Our students projects and research proposals are short listed for funding by various organizations at the national and state level such as India National Academy of Engineering and TamilNadu Council for Science and Technology.

To align with the growing trends of the IT industry the department periodically organizes workshops and conferences in the national and international levels on various topics such as Big Data & Cloud Computing, Advanced Java and DOTNET programming, Open Source Software Systems to mention a few. To bridge the academic-industry gap the students are motivated to undergo in plant training and industrial visits. Short term entrepreneurship development programs are conducted periodically to create awareness about various business opportunities available and the details of the various schemes provided by our government to encourage young entrepreneurs. They also actively take part in NSS camps to serve the downtrodden society at large.
